Our History
It all began with a wheelbarrow and a shovel in 1986, on our first commercial job at The D'Arcy Arms Hotel in Surfers Paradise. Today, Scape Shapes are specialists in all kinds of softscape and hardscape projects. And our team has grown to include highly trained horticultural staff, a skilled network of specialist sub-contractors and suppliers, and offices on the Gold Coast, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.
And the wheelbarrow and shovel?
Scape Shapes Landscaping is one of Queenslands longest established commercial landscaping construction companies founded in 1986 by two Gatton Agricultural College Graduates, Danny Glennon our Financial Director and Michael Schultz Operations Director.
Over the last 19 years, we have formed a very well structured and experienced workforce made up of experienced Estimators, Construction and Project Managers, Project Supervisors, foremen, leading hands and qualified landscapers. We also have an Irrigation Division, which designs and constructs Automatic irrigation systems for all types of commercial projects and a Maintenance division. The company has grown a significant annual turnover, employing over 100 staff and subcontractors, within the group.
In 1997, Scape Shapes won Telstras Queensland Small Business of the Year Award.
With Head Office on the Gold Coast and offices in Brisbane and at Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast, Scape Shapes has developed a depth of experience and a wealth of knowledge in a wide variety of landscaping projects valued from $3,000 to $3 million to become our Industrys Leader- with landscaping teams based in Brisbane and on the Sunshine and Gold Coasts, undertaking projects throughout the whole of Queensland and Northern New South Wales
Scape Shapes first High Rise was the Grand Mariner Residential Resort which won Scape Shapes Best Overall Winner for Landscape Construction in Queensland in the 1992 Industry Awards, reflecting our dedication to focusing on clients needs and to delivering quality.
We have landscaped many Award winning Projects throughout Queensland and Northern New south Wales, including the World First 6 Star Palazzo Versace Hotel on the Gold Coast, the Mincom Office Tower in Brisbane City, The Cairn Reef Casino, as well as Greg Norman and a Jack Nicklaus designed Golf Courses, Shopping Centres, Housing Estates including Unit & Housing developments, a section of the Pacific Motorway to the Gold Coast, Parklands, wetlands, right down to small maintenance and refurbishment projects for Qbuild, Councils, Energex and private home landscaping. Our landscaping of Palazzo Versace won us three Industry Excellence 2003 Awards: Landscape Construction for the Year- 2003, Commercial Landscaping Category IV and the Irrigation Award.
Our client base ranges from Developers to Landscape Architects, Major Construction Companies, Builders, Local State and Federal Government Departments and Community Groups.
